GEHENNA

Gehenna (Nor) - Discografía

A pedido les dejo la discografía de los noruegos Gehenna, una de las más representativas y mejores bandas que aquel país ha podido darnos.

La banda se forma durante el año 1993 en Stavanger, formado originalmente como un proyecto de Black Metal que ejecutaba como muchas otras bandas en aquellas épocas en que sólo se hablaba del Inner Circle de Noruega. Desde sus inicios el proyecto ha hablado dentro de sus líricas de la oscuridad, la muerte y del mal, agregando posteriormente la guerra a su repertorio.

En el año 1993 hacen su aparición con 'Black Seared Heart', un demo en formato cassette limitado a 100 copias en el cual podíamos escuchar un black metal con toques melódicos y un tanto medievales que para algunos no habrá sido asombroso pero que les dio un lugar dentro de la elite de su país. El demo fue re-editado durante 1996 agregándole un tres bonus tracks además de una mejores en el audio, pero fue tomado en cuenta como un recoplatorio de la banda.

En ese mismo año graban un EP titulado 'Ancestor of the Darkly Sky', el cual fue limitado a 1000 copias en formato 7 pulgadas, un disco que guarda un sonido idéntico a su demo anterior aunque para mi gusto mejor.

Para 1994 grabaron su más legendaria producción, 'First Spell', la que sería primera parte de una trilogía que llevó a Gehenna a un lugar privilegiado dentro de los gustos de los metaleros de aquellas épocas, un disco con un sonido igualmente medieval y místico, con toques atmosféricos excelentes que fueron aportados por el uso de partes acústicas dentro de la ejecución.

En 1995 lanzan su segundo full length, en esta ocasión titulado 'Seen Through the Veils of Darkness (The Second Spell)', un disco con un sonido que coqueteaba mucho con el de sus compatriotas Emperor, pero que mantenía algunos elementos dentro de su ejecución que venían empleando desde sus producciones anteriores. Es de mencionar la participación en este disco de Garm, quien por mucho tiempo fue vocalista de Arcturus y Ulver, en el track 'Vinterriket'.

A lo largo del año 1996 grabaron y lanzaron 'Malice (Our Third Spell)', tercer full length de la banda, producción que sigue en la línea impuesta por First Spell, aunque sin el brillo protagonista de los teclados, que en sus anteriores producciones agregaban atmósferas y sonidos excelentes, aunque sigue siendo de lo mejor que tiene Gehenna.

Durante 1998 lanza un EP titulado 'Deadlights', el preludio de su cuarto full length que sería titulado 'Adimiron Black', ambas producciones consideradas como un punto negro dentro de la historia de la banda, ya que aqui es donde hacen el cambio de un Black Metal con toques sinfónicos, al ritmo hoy conocido como Black/Death, agregando toques más veloces y agresivos a su ejecución, además de un cierto cambio en la forma en que Dolgar vocalizaba. Dos de los tres tracks que están dentro del EP Deadlights, fueron agregados al tracklist de Adimiron Black.

Para 2000 lanzan 'Murder', su quinto full length, el cual fue el menos agraciado de todos sus discos, pero que mantiene un toque agresivo y violento que incluso pudo haber sido tomado como base para bandas como Zyklon. Aqui se incluye 'Master Satan' el tercer track que aparecía en el EP Deadlights.

En el año 2005 lanzaron su más reciente producción, la cual lleva por título 'WW', un disco que en verdad le regresó la credibilidad que para muchos había perdido Gehenna, siguiendo en la línea del Black/Death, con más inclinación por el black metal que los llevó a la fama, en esta ocasión incluyendo la participación a lo largo del disco de Frost, conocido baterista de 1349 y Satyricon. El disco es de lo mejor que lanzara la banda, por supuesto que después de sus tres Spells que lanzaran en los inicios, siendo agresivo, violento, maligno y satánico.

Una petición más que Dark Ritual les trae señores.
